Things I don’t buy: Spaghetti Sauce

I have fallen in love with cooking from stratch. Food tastes so much better and I actually KNOW what i am eating, but I don’t like how much time it takes to make food from stratch. I try to find FAST and EASY stratch reciepes. It saves me time, money AND we eat delcious food. Woo-hoo!

I found this recipe on Jessica’s blog. ( By the way, all her recipes are FANTASTIC. She is an amazing cook.) I have make this for almost 3 years now. I make a huge batch at the beginning of each month. I keep one jar in the fridge (for pizza night on Friday’s) and keep the other jars in the freezer. It will usually last us all month long.

The best part? I literally throw all the indredigents in my crockpot, turn it on low, and let it cook all day. Amazing.

I use crushed tomatoes. The huge can at Sam’s works really well. In a pinch, I buy these at Aldi. …..and YES my counters are dirty. I actually COOK in my kitchen.

 

Dump all your crushed tomatoes in your crockpot and chop up an onion.

 

Throw in your onion, all the spices, and some olive oil. I don’t add any water. I think the flavor is stronger this way. It is up to you!

Set on low and walk away. Your house will smell amazing!

I let it cook for 6 to 8 hours. Make sure the sauce is cool in your containers before you freeze.

I use this sauce in lasanga, on spagehetti, on pizza, and anything else that calls for red sauce. It makes any dish taste amazing.
